World Veterinary Day 2026 Passing the Love and Passion Legacy

Dr Goh Lai Har
President, MSAVA (2025/2027)

Dear Members and Friends,

As we approach World Veterinary Day 2026, my heart is filled with deep gratitude and pride. For the very first time, MSAVA will cross the South China Sea to celebrate at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu. On 22nd April 2026, we will gather for a half‑day seminar, a half‑day workshop, and conclude with a fraternity dinner that symbolizes not just learning, but togetherness. This is more than an event—it is a living testament to unity, inclusivity, and the bonds that tie us together as one veterinary family.

We are honored to welcome two renowned international speakers, Dr. Manfred and Dr. Claudia from Austria, who have generously offered their expertise pro bono. Their presence reflects the spirit of giving and passion that defines our profession, and their lectures and workshop will enrich our celebration with knowledge and inspiration. We warmly welcome all members and non-members to join us. This initiative will also strengthen fraternity with our affiliates WEVSIG and SDVMA in Sabah, fostering understanding and connection.

During this celebration, we will proudly present an award to honor the sacrifice and contributions of two local practitioners—Dr. Bhajan Singh and Dr. Haji Ab Rasit Ibrahim. These superb heroes have devoted their lives to shaping our profession and safeguarding the health and safety of their communities, day and night, year after year. On this special day, we want them to know: we see you, we treasure you, and we honor you.

None of this would be possible without the loyal support of local companies who have stood by us, offering both financial and non-cash contributions. Their generosity is a testament to the respect and trust our profession inspires. They came forward to support us without hesitation, without knowing the return or outcome, and for that, we are deeply grateful.

World Veterinary Day is not just a date—it is a proud affirmation of our calling. Ours is a noble and sacred profession, one that requires dedication, compassion, and integrity, and cannot be taken up lightly or by just anyone. It is a legacy that makes our parents proud, inspires our children, and fills our communities with hope.

I encourage each of you to celebrate this moment in your own way—whether by joining us in Kota Kinabalu, organizing local activities, or simply sharing your love for animals and your appreciation for your team members and community. Take this moment to be proud of yourselves and of our profession. Let us continue to pass the love and passion legacy through true care for companion animals and through service to society.

Together, as veterinarians, colleagues, and friends, we carry forward a legacy of compassion, integrity, and service. And together, we will ensure that this love endures for generations to come.

With heartfelt gratitude and pride,

Dr. Goh Lai Har
President, MSAVA (2025–2027)
